Spring is around the corner, and that means it’s time to get your garden growing! The Santa Fe Seed Library is officially opening for the 2025 season at the Southside Public Library on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Whether you’re a beginner or a long-time gardener, the Seed Library is a great place to find high-quality seeds and helpful advice—all for free!
What Is the Seed Library?
The Seed Library is a free community resource hosted by the Southside Library and run by the Santa Fe Extension Master Gardeners’ Seed Stewards. It offers thousands of vegetable, herb, and flower seeds, all open-pollinated and donated by local growers and trusted seed companies.
Visitors can take up to five seed packets, no library card required. That’s right—this service is open to everyone!

When Can I Use the Seed Library?
After opening day, the Seed Library will be available during regular library hours throughout the planting season. Simply stop by the Southside Library and choose up to five packets of seeds to take home and plant in your garden.
Need Gardening Help? Just Ask!
Every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Seed Steward Volunteers will be on-site to help answer all your gardening questions. Whether you want to know when to plant tomatoes or how to grow flowers from seed, these friendly volunteers are ready to guide you.
Note: Volunteers will not be available on Saturday, May 10th.
