Organisations are invited to provide homeless solutions

The City of Santa Fe is taking strong steps to tackle homelessness and is calling on local organizations to join the effort. A new Request for Proposals (RFP) has been released, inviting qualified groups to provide services that help make homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

If your agency or organization can offer programs that provide basic needs, connect people to helpful resources, and support long-term housing, the City wants to hear from you. The goal is to help individuals not just survive but move toward stable and permanent housing with the help of innovative and supportive services.

What the City Is Looking For

The City of Santa Fe is looking for partners who can do more than just offer short-term help. They want programs that:

Meet Basic Human Needs
This includes food, water, hygiene support, and safe shelter for people who are currently experiencing homelessness.

Provide Pathways to Housing
Organizations should help individuals move into stable and permanent housing. This could involve rental assistance, housing support, and case management.

Offer Innovative and Supportive Services
Applicants should have ideas that go beyond traditional solutions. Services like mental health support, job training, substance abuse recovery, and other tools that help people become self-sufficient are strongly encouraged.

Conduct Strong Community Outreach
Applicants must also build relationships with people experiencing homelessness. This means understanding their long-term needs and building trust through outreach and engagement.

How to Apply

Interested organizations can apply through the City’s Vendor Self-Service portal in MUNIS. All proposals must be submitted by March 31st.

About Santa Fe’s Plan to End Homelessness

The City knows that homelessness is a major issue and is working on long-term solutions to help those in need. The Santa Fe Homelessness Action Plan outlines what the City is doing to provide support now while also planning for the future.

This plan includes:

More Services and Coordination
By expanding services and improving how they’re delivered, the City hopes to give people the help they need without long delays or confusion.

Better Investments in Spaces and Shelters
This includes new shelters and living spaces designed with safety, comfort, and dignity in mind.

Policy and Advocacy Work
The City is also working at a higher level to change rules and laws that make it harder for people to get housing.

Micro Communities: A New Shelter Solution

One exciting idea already in progress is the development of Micro Communities. These are small, well-equipped shelter sites that provide:

  • Safe and private living spaces
  • Bathrooms and community centers
  • Onsite case management
  • Emergency features like smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and secure doors

Each micro home is built by Pallet, LLC, and includes modern touches like LED lighting, climate control, and locking doors. The City is planning to open 2–3 of these Micro Communities soon.

Santa Fe is serious about reducing homelessness and creating long-term solutions. If your group has the passion and programs to help, now is the time to act. With the City’s support and a shared goal of making homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring, real change is possible. Submit your proposal by March 31st and be a part of this important mission.
